Artisan granola producer Tamnagh Foods in Northern Ireland has won its first business outside the UK and Ireland. Based near Dungiven in rural county Londonderry, Tamnagh has secureda contract to supply its handcrafted Maple Nut and Fruit and Honey Nut and Seeds granolas to Globus in Zurich, the headquarters of one of the best known department stores in Switzerland. The Northern Ireland granolas will feature on the shelves of Globus Delicatessa, the delicatessens in the company's 14 department storesacross Switzerland. Globus is owned by Migros, Switzerland's largestand best known retailers. The Globus contract for Tamnagh follows its success, earlier in the year, in winning business from Harrods for its award winning granolas, its first contract in Britain. Kevin Hickey, who owns Tamnagh Foods with wife Julie, says the contract with Globus follows the company's success in winning gold and silver medals in last year's Irish National Food Awards in Dingle. "We were subsequently approached by Globus to provide samples of the granolas and a significant order followed shortly afterwards. "It's immensely encouraging to have Globus in our rapidly growing list of customers. It's also our first business breakthrough in Europeand is a marvellous endorsement of our granolas which have also won UK Great Taste Awards for outstanding taste and premium quality," headds. Globus was founded in 1907 in Zurich and now has stores in all majorSwiss cities. The chain sells mostly upscale goods, including clothing, cosmetics, jewellery and household supplies. The stores are noted for their extensive delicatessen section, Globus Delicatessa. Tamnagh was formed in June 2010 by the husband and wife and is basedat Park, near Dungiven. The couple has an extensive background in the food and hospitality industries. The premium granola breakfast products are all based on recipes they've created for a tasty and healthy breakfast. The granolas are produced in small batches to ensure consistent quality. They use Northern Irish sourced Jumbo oats gently toasted with nuts and seeds and then lightly sweetened with maple syrup and the natural sweetness of cranberries. The company operates from an estate in the picturesque Sperrin Mountains close to the small village of Park. In June 2012 the company converted a disused farm shed into a modernapproved food unit - incorporating a modern production kitchen for granolas, a cheese development area and specially constructed cheesematuring rooms to facilitate the controlled ageing of cheese. Strict hygiene practices and a comprehensive Food Safety Plan are applied and strictly adhered to. In addition to the granolas, the company developed and last year launched two original artisan cheeses under the Dart Mountain brand.
