Northern Ireland food and drink at Gourmet Gallery in Frankfurt

Two Northern Ireland food and drink companies will be marketing
products with some of the region's award winning chefs at Gourmet
Gallery, part of the Frankfurt Book Fair, which focuses on cookery
publications.

The Northern Ireland companies are Mash Direct, which is based at
Comber in county Down and manufactures convenience foods, and
Shortcross of Crossgar, also county Down, a small batch gin
distillery.

Gourmet Gallery runs from 14-17 October and is expected to attract
270,000 trade visitors. It is the first time that Northern Ireland
has taken part in the event. The companies and chefs are taking parton the Food NI stand at the show. It has been organised in
conjunction with Northern Irish Connections and the Department of
Agriculture and Rural Development.

As part of this, a celebration is taking place to mark 20 years of
the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, where both Food NI and James
McIntosh are receiving special awards for their publishing.

Chefs from all over the world will be in attendance at this event,
each of which will be providing a cooking masterclass in the show
kitchen. The chefs are Brian McDermott, Paula McIntyre, Emmett
McCourt and Simon Dougan.. Paula McIntyre will be launching her
new cookery book at the fair.

Among those will be award winning food writer and TV presenter,
James McIntosh from Northern Ireland. McIntosh will be demonstratingat 5.15pm in the Gourmet Gallery close to the Food NI stand.

Gourmet Gallery is now supported by the World Cookbook Fair. There
will be over 80 exhibitors from more than 30 countries. Culinary
inspiration will be provided by 30 master classes and much more.
Here star chefs from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, France, Germany,
India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Russia, UK and USA will present
their culinary arts live on stage.
