Egg packer leading Northern Irish small business

Skea Egg Farms, the leading Northern Irish egg packer and marketer
which supplies UK supermarkets, has been listed in the top 10 of
the region's most successful small and medium sized companies by a
local magazine.

Based at Dungannon in county Tyrone, Skea Egg Farms produces
around eight million eggs a week for major retailers including
Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda and Marks and Spencer.

The company employs around 120 people and supplies a comprehensive
range of eggs including free range, barn, organic, omega 3 and
standard eggs at competitive national scale levels.

The company is listed at eight in the Ulster Business magazine's
Next 200 SMEs. It is the only food business in the top 10 in the
list sponsored by financial institution Barclays and compiled by
Dun and Bradstreet.

Twelve food manufacturers are ranked from 11-100.

They include dairy business Strathroy Dairy of Omagh, county Tyrone at 17, meat processor Hilton Meats of Cookstown, Avondale Foods of
Craigavon, a developer of salads, soups and other convenience
products, Eurostock Foods of Lurgan, county Armagh, another meat
processor, and John Woods (Lisglyn), Armagh, a producer of Linwoods branded superfoods as well as bread and milk.

Adrian Doran, head of corporate banking at Barclays, describes the
listed companies as being high growth businesses, mostly locally-owned, and important to the Northern Ireland economy.

"The ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and opportunities isthe hallmark of many of our local SMEs, and this fleetness of foot
is something which gives them a distinct advantage compared to
larger companies."
