Moy Park reports solid export growth

Moy Park, Northern Ireland's biggest food processor, has reported a third quarter sales rise against a backdrop of "particularly challenging" market conditions.

For the three-month period to 1 October 2016, Moy Park, based in Craigavon, county Armagh, reported like-for-like revenue of £353 million compared to £341million for the same period in 2015.

Like-for-like pre-tax profits were also up from £10.4 million to £15.4 million.
Moy Park said it had continued to make "positive progress" during the period, having made investments geared towards future growth.

"An experienced management team, an outstanding product portfolio and a robust financial position puts Moy Park in a strong position to handle the ongoing economic challenges and uncertainty following the EU Referendum," it added.

"We therefore remain confident in the continued success and development of the business."

Janet McCollum, Moy Park chief executive, said the company's strong performance had been achieved against a backdrop of "particularly challenging market conditions" and hailed the manufacturer for posting a rise in both revenue and profits.
