Northern Irish Wild Power Wheatgrass listed by Planet Organic

Wild Power Wheatgrass from Northern Ireland has won business with Planet Organic, a UK retail leader in healthy foods for its award winning range of wheatgrass-based drinks.

Wild Power Wheatgrass is a retail brand developed by Squeeze Wheatgrass in Warrenpoint, county Down, where the company uses hydroponic technology to grow the wheatgrass which it then cold-presses and packs.

The Northern Ireland company, owned and managed by wheatgrass pioneer Jacquelyn Stewart, has developed the four-strong Wild Power range - Pure (wheatgrass), Fuel (wheatgrass with beetroot and blackcurrant), Awaken (wheatgrass with apple and pear) and Refresh (wheatgrass with orange and lemon).

The energy boosting shots are 100 per cent natural and cold-pressed to retain essential nutrients and enzymes.

The shots are now available at Planet Organic's seven stores around London. The business follows a direct pitch by Jacquelyn Stewart to the specialist health food retailer. The company's products and processes are SALSA approved.

She says: "Planet Organic is an ideal fit for us because of its longstanding commitment to healthy and nutritious food options and quality supplements with the provenance that health and diet conscious consumers now expect and demand.

"We share Planet Organic's advocacy of foods that are both natural and wholesome," she adds.

The first Planet Organic shop was opened in 1995 by founder Renée Elliott with the objective to offer the best and widest range of organic foods available and to promote health throughout the community.

The specialist retailer offers wide ranges of natural health foods suitable for all speciality diets, as well as a ground-breaking raw foods range

The Wild Power Wheatgrass retail brand was launched last year by Squeeze Wheatgrass, which has been selling wheatgrass shots through its e-commerce site since 2010. Wild Power Wheatgrass juice shots were developed to boost business in the retail sector. The shots have an extended 12-week shelf-life.

The first retailer in Britain to launch the new retail brand was Fortnum and Mason in London.
