Northern Irish Dunbia wins trio of top awards for innovative products

Dunbia Group, Northern Ireland's biggest meat processor, has won three major awards in the prestigious national SuperMeat and Fish Awards.

The awards, organised by Meat Trades Journal, are an independent affirmation of quality in everything a customer values and looks for: product quality; knowledgeable counter teams; a trusted and responsible supply chain.

Headquartered at Dungannon in county Tyrone, Dunbia gained category awards for products developed for leading UK retailers as follows:

Best Product New to Market - Quick Cook Beef Joint for the Co-op;

Best Pork Product - Churrasco Salt and Chilli Pork for Iceland; and

Best Lamb Product - Butcher's Selection Lamb Shoulder Joint with Garlic and Herbs for Asda.

The awards have been recognised by supermarket groups and suppliers to drive sales and highlight innovation in the critical protein categories.

This year's awards were hotly contested in all categories, ranging from Best Christmas Turkey to Best Ready Meal. Unique to the awards are the valuable individual feedback reports that allow entrants to benchmark performance by product and category against competitors.

The coveted awards were announced at a gala industry event in the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.

Dunbia Group, now one of Europe's largest processors of beef and lamb, takes pride in its long-term partnerships with suppliers and customers. It employs around 3,000 people in Northern Ireland.

The group, which announced a strategic joint venture with Dawn Meats in the Republic of Ireland, has processing operations throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.
