Northern Ireland's Quiet Man Whiskey a big noise in Hungary

The Quiet Man Irish Whiskey from Northern Ireland is now being distributed in Hungary as a result of the latest export deal from an international marketing drive.

Based at Derry, The Quiet Man has signed a distribution deal with DunaPro in Budapest that will see its award-winning single malt and blended whiskey products being available in Hungary.

Michael Morris, commercial director of The Quiet Man, says: 'We're delighted to include DunaPro in our developing network of experienced distributors now helping to establish our brand as among the fastest growing of a new generation of Irish whiskey products.

"Setting up such a network has been a strategic focus of the business over the past year. Hungary will become an important market for us as we develop our portfolio of quality whiskey.

"The quality of our 12 year old malt was recognised most recently when it achieved an outstanding marking of 93 out of 100 in the influential Jim Murray Whiskey Bible," he adds.

Founded in 1992, DunaPro is Hungary's largest independent distributors of spirits and other products.

The Quiet Man has established a distribution network covering around 30 international markets including the US. The company, which was founded by Ciaran Mulgrew, the managing director of Niche Drinks, a specialist in Irish cream liqueurs is completing the first whiskey distillery in Derry in more than a century.

The new distillery is scheduled to begin distilling in two specially commissioned pot stills in 2018. The facility will also feature a purpose-built visitor's centre chronicling the history of whiskey in Derry stretching back to the 19th century.

DunaPro, the largest privately owned distribution company in Hungary, has an extensive network of customers including the off-trade, independent retailers and foodservice operations.
