Irish Black Butter now available in foodservice packs

Irish Black Butter, among the most successful new retail product launches by a start up business in Northern Ireland in 2017 has just introduced a foodservice pack.

The small business, formed by Alastair Bell in October has created a 675g pack for restaurants and other caterers which sells for £9.95.

"The decision to launch a foodservice pack so soon after the retail jars is a response to requests from chefs in many leading restaurants here for the product," Mr Bell says. "There's been tremendous interest in our Irish Black Butter because it's such a tasty and versatile product that can be used for glazing ham and for cheeseboards.

"It made business sense for us to embrace this interest as quickly as possible by launching the foodservice version.

"I've been hugely encouraged by very positive feedback from everyone who has tried the product since it was launched in November. It's now available at delis, butchers and independent traders across Northern Ireland. In addition, I've had approaches from Britain and the Republic of Ireland. I'll be following these up over the next few months,"
he adds.

Irish Black Butter was developed by Mr Bell with support from leading chef Paul Clarke, who runs En Place Foods at Cookstown in county Tyrone. It is made from Northern Ireland's Armagh Bramley Apples blended with treacle, cider, a touch of brandy and spices for a cross between sweet and savoury.

Mr Bell has outsourced production of Irish Black Butter to En Place Foods, which has a successful track record in the development and production of sauces, relishes and other foodservice products.
