Enterprise Minister announces ?2.7 million investment by Greiner Packaging Ltd
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster recently announced a £2.7million investment by Greiner Packaging Ltd which aims to create 12 new jobs.
Dungannon-based Greiner Packaging Ltd (GPUK) is part of privately owned Greiner Packaging International headquartered in Austria and manufactures plastic packaging products for the food, dairy and beverage sectors.
The investment in two innovative projects aims to increase sales by £2.5 million in 2011 and this will be supported by the development of a new production line. Invest NI offered GPUK over £340,000, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
GPUK has purchased new plant machinery and equipment which allow the firm to meet increasing demand, and focus on the development of a new range of products from post-consumer plastic waste. The development of a new production line will create 12 new jobs, boost the company's competitive position and generate additional sales in markets outside Northern Ireland.
GPUK has alsointegrated first in the UK wind propelled innovative technology which balances the heating and cooling elements in its production process and allows utilisation of waste heat energy. As a result, the firm is benefitting from a reduction in water consumption by 6 million cubic meters and energy operating costs by 50% annually.

"The creation of 12 new jobs is welcome news for the local community and the firm's overall investment will help to further increase its portfolio of products and support export growth.
"In a climate of rising energy costs and a focus on reducing carbon footprint, the introduction of this innovative technology will enhance GPUK's competitiveness and establish the facility as a leader in energy management."
Jarek Zasadzinski, CEO of Greiner Packaging, commented: "In the highly competitive packaging sector, continuous improvement of our products and processes is vital to maintaining our market position.
"The development and integration of energy efficiency measures is an important part of our sustainable development programme as well as CO2 reduction. With Invest NI's support we are currently on track to meet our target of reducing operating costs by nearly £1,000,000 per year.
"The project has been so successful that we have progressed plans to install three additional lines, all of which will be in operation by February 2011. Thanks to this investment we have managed to close the recycling loop whereby the collected PET bottles from kerbside bins are reprocessed again into environmentally friendly packaging.
"In addition, our new production line has enabled us to respond to market demand for recyclable products and enhanced our ability to compete in export markets."
