Local Baby Food Company gets supermarket seal of approval

A new local organic baby food company is celebrating, having just landed its first contract to supply all 39 SuperValu stores in Northern Ireland.

Heavenly Tasty Organics is the brainchild of busy mum of two, Shauna McCarney, from Fintona, who founded the company to provide pure organic baby food in a convenient format for parents, with none of the normal guilt attached. The offer is quite simple; fresh frozen, organic fruit and vegetable purees, for use when weaning babies from 4 months onto solid foods. Vegetables and fruit in the range are gently steamed from fresh, then frozen, packaged in a 250g re-sealable pouch, with each pack containing 10 heart-shaped ice cube sized portions.

The product development is based on market research done in many SuperValu stores and Musgrave, distribution partner to the stores, has been working with Shauna for months on this innovative product.

Shauna says: "Musgrave Retail Partners NI has been very supportive and I am delighted that a company with local produce at its heart has committed to supply my products to SuperValu retailers.

Paul Bennett, Fresh and Frozen Food Category Manager, Musgrave Retail Partners NI said, "Heavenly Tasty Organics is a great local company with a big future. It is a perfect fit for our supporting local ethos and is a truly unique product in the Northern Ireland market which we are delighted to bring to our shoppers."

Heavenly Tasty Organics which has received support from INI, DARD and the European Rural Development Fund, is based at Loughrey College Food Incubation Centre, Cookstown. It has also has achieved Soil Association accreditation for the products and processes, and is a member of Good Food NI.
