Marriott Group lists Fivemiletown cheese for meals

Marriott UK has listed Fivemiletown Creamery's unique Boilíe speciality goat's cheese as an ingredient for meals in its network of hotels throughout Britain.

Boilíe goat's cheese pearls, available only from Fivemiletown Creamery in Northern Ireland, is being used in five meals, including pasta dishes and salads, on menus across 40 Marriott Hotels in Britain.

The hotel's chefs have opted for two recently launched Boilíe goat's cheese products from Fivemiletown, Northern Ireland's leading speciality cheese producer, Boilíe infused with sun-dried tomato and Boilíe infused with basil pesto.

Marriott UK is the first foodservice organisation to incorporate the new Boilíe cheeses in its menus for diners.

Owen Jones, Fivemiletown Creamery's UK sales manager, commenting on the new business for Boilíe, says: "This is a fantastic endorsement of the quality and deliciously different flavours of the products, which we launched in October in the foodservices market in Britain, by one of the biggest and most prestigious hospitality businesses.

"The new Boilíe goat's and cow's pearls were developed by the creamery to offer a unique and very tasty ingredient for a very broad range of meals especially pasta dishes. Our focus was on creating a distinctively rich taste experience and a very versatile product using our expertise in both goat's and cow's milk.

"Marriott Group's choice of goat's cheese pearls reflects a developing trend that we've pinpointed in Britain, indeed further afield, for goat's cheese products. We've responded to this market opportunity by adapting our traditional Irish Boilíe cheese pearls marinaded in garlic oil infused with herbs to expand and diversify our portfolio of soft cheeses.

"The growing popularity of the Boilíe cheeses, especially the goat's cheese variants, are contributing to a significant rise in sales of our speciality cheeses. Last year was an exceptionally successful one for the company and saw record sales of speciality cheese.

"This success has led us to focus additional resources on growing our speciality cheese in Britain, other parts of Europe and further afield," he adds.

Established in 1898 by a group of dairy farmers in the lush pastures of County Tyrone, Fivemiletown Creamery remains a farmers' co-operative business. It sources its milk from a network of around 70 Northern Ireland producers. The company has its own experienced team of cheesemakers and employs around 80 people.
