Northern Irish marmalade business wins international medals

Baked in Belfast, the Northern Irish producer of 'cocktails in a jar' has won two medals in the annual International Marmalade Awards at Dalmain in Cumbria. The small business won two bronze medals in the artisan category for its unusual Gin and Tonic and IrishWhiskey marmalades. The company produces its distinctive marmalades in tall 100ml jars. It has also won UK Great Taste Awards for its jams.

Suzanne Livingstone, the founder of the business, which is based near Enniskillen in county Fermanagh, says: "Winning two medals in such a prestigious competition is immensely encouraging. I set out to develop an artisan range of jams with distinctively different flavours."

The World's Original Marmalade Awards and Festival, now in its 10th year, attracted entries from most parts of the world. More than 2,600 jars were sent by marmalade makers to the organisers of the quirky awards and festival held at Dalemain Mansion, near Penrith, Cumbria. Entries came from as far afield as Australia, Canada, Japan and this year they added Denmark, India, The Bahamas and Singapore to the list of international entries.

Artisan, Hotel, B&B and Restaurant marmalade entries also increased this year in comparison to previous years, firmly asserting that the awards are 'THE' competition for marmalade makers worldwide wanting to prove the worth of their marmalade against national and international competitors.
