Northern Irish super food business invests for faster growth


Linwoods, the Northern Irish manufacturer of superfoods, dairy and bakery products, is investing &pound500,000 to increase productivity and faster growth.



Based in Armagh, county Armagh, the company is investing in new technology, packaging and an expanded bakery range.



Founded in 1965, the family business, managed by John Woods, has developed into an industry leader in the development and export of healthy seeds for markets such as the US, Middle East, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Scandinavia and Germany.



Successful products include healthy flaxseed, linseed, sunflower seeds, shelled hemp and goji berries.



Marketing and sales manager Joanne Woods says: "The Linwoods brand has become a household name, and our breads and baked in particular have been pivotal to that position.



"We are mindful that bakery is highly competitive, and we recognise the importance of continuous improvement and investment.



"Investing over &pound500,000 in new bakery technology has enabled us not only to extend our bakery range, but also to refresh its image with a major rebrand."



Bakery products for customers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland include breads such as its award winning spelt and honey loaf, fruit bread and spelt soda farls.
