Artisans win international airport backing

Artisan food and drink producers in Northern Ireland have been
boosted by a decision by Aelia Duty Free to develop a separate
section for local food and drink at Belfast International Airport,
the region's biggest airport.

Aelia has listed around 50 artisan products including bacon,
traditional breads, oils, chocolate, cheeses, condiments and craft
ales for the new section, which is to branded 'Taste of Ulster' and will also focus on Northern Ireland's Year of Food in 2016.

The new section follows a successful popup shop featuring local
artisan producers earlier in the year. The popularity of the popup
shop with passengers led Aelia to develop the section in the main
Duty Free area within the airport's Departures zone.

The section, which Aelia intends to expand further, has been
developed with Belfast International Airport management, Food NI andUlster Artisans, both of which work together to promote local food
and drink producers.

Aelia plans a series of sampling sessions in the airport hosted by artisan producers.

Aelia has also listed two recently developed local spirits -
Shortcross Gin, which is distilled by Rademon Estate Distillery at
Crossgar in county Down, and RubyBlue, a potato vodka produced by
Hughes Craft Distillery of Lisburn in county Antrim
