Gold medals for Northern Irish O'Doherty's Fine Meats

O'Doherty's Fine Meats in Northern Ireland gained two gold medals
and two silver medals in the recent Foodex 2016 awards.

The company, headed by master butcher Pat O'Doherty and based at
Enniskillen in county Fermanagh, was Northern Ireland's most
successful butchery business in the awards. The company gained the
following awards:

Gold for its Grass-Fed Burger and also for its Back Bacon; and
Silver for its Beef Burger and Black Pudding.

O'Doherty is also the driving force behind the only black pudding
festival on the island of Ireland.

"We are delighted to have won the medal at Foodex, now among the
most influential events in our industry. They are a tremendous boostfor our quality products."

Famed for its award winning Fermanagh Black Bacon and Old Fermanagh Corned Beef, O'Doherty's recently featured on Jamie Oliver's hugely popular You Tube channel, Food Tube, as part of Northern Ireland's
Year of Food and Drink.

Jamie Oliver's Food Tube is one of YouTube's most successful food
channels and attracts over 22 million monthly views.

The Fermanagh feature on O'Doherty's is also being promoted on Food Tube's social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. It was organised by Tourism Ireland.

David Boyce, Tourism Ireland's deputy head of Great Britain, said:
"We're really excited to work with Jamie Oliver's Food Tube to
promote Northern Ireland's Year of Food and Drink. Our message is
that Northern Ireland is a superb choice for 'foodies' for a holiday or long weekend break."

Another successful Northern Ireland butcher at Foodex was Clogher
Valley Meats based in Clogher, county Tyrone. The business gained
silver medals for its Black Pudding and Caramelised Red Onion Pork
Sausage, Beef Burger and Gourmet Cheese and Chive Beef Burger.

Foodex, the UK show for the packaging, processing, ingredients and
logistics industry, played host to thousands of visitors, who
travelled the country to gain insight into the latest trends and
products.

Around 350 exhibitors took stands at the event.
