Snack leader launches first range of flavoured popcorn

Tayto, the leading Northern Ireland crisp and snack brand, has launched a four-strong range of flavoured popcorn.

As well as Cinema Sweet, Salted, Sweet and Salted flavours, the fourth Tayto range leverages the company's longstanding crisp favourite, Tayto Cheese & Onion. Tayto Popcorn sharing bags have an RRP of £1.39 and are now available in Northern Ireland.

Based at Tandragee in county Armagh, Tayto is Northern Ireland's biggest and most successful manufacturer of snacks including crisps, the most successful being the iconic cheese and onion, a flavour made from the same recipe as it has for the last 60 years. The company continues to be run by the Hutchinson family, founders of the business in 1956.

The new range is aimed to meet the growing demand for quality popcorn.

"By diversifying into the popcorn market, we are offering consumers a new take of what they know and love," says Elly Hunter, Tayto marketing director. "We just had to make a cheese and onion popcorn flavour, which has all the taste that our customers expect, mixed with a new type of crunch. The new range is great to enjoy with friends, family and a good movie," she adds.

Each pack contains fewer than 100 calories per serving. The popcorn is wholegrain and gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians. The range has been created to appeal to lifestyle consumers and is already attracting the interest of the health food sector.
Part of Manderley Foods, Tayto is the third largest snack manufacturer in the United Kingdom. The group's other brands are Golden Wonder, Real Crisps, Mr Porky and Jonathan Crisp.
