Ice cream specialist has tasty designs for growth

Morelli's, the Northern Ireland producer of Italian-style ice cream is strengthening its retail offering with the launch of new packaging.

The family-owned and managed business has been developing retail business on the island of Ireland and has developed a new eye-catching packaging in take home tubs.

The 950ml tubs are available in flavours such as double vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, honeycomb, raspberry ripple and sea salted caramel and are being launched by Tesco Northern Ireland.

The company, which is based at Coleraine, county Derry and has been in business for over a century, has also developed a new range of individual 125ml sized spoon-in-lid pots in five flavours - double cream vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, sea salted caramel and honeycomb.

For symbol groups and independents, Morelli's is providing a special branded freezer and point of sale promotional material.

Director Arnaldo Morelli, commenting on the new packaging, says: "It's key to our growth strategy that Morelli's continues to grow to meet consumer demand, which can only be achieved by continuously innovating and by making our ice cream more accessible to people.

"The new look packaging has been a labour of love and, at present, no one else is using this design in Ireland or the UK. We're confident that it will help draw the shopper in for an all-important first time,"
he adds.

Morelli's ice cream business was established in Northern Ireland in 1911 and currently operates a network of shops as well as supplying major retailers in both parts of Ireland. In addition, the company has a portable vending services for festivals and other events.

It has further expansion plans in Northern Ireland and in the Republic.
