Northern Irish Cavanagh Free Range Eggs targets Britain for growth

Cavanagh Free Range Eggs, the multi-award winning producer, is stepping up its marketing activities in Britain, a key market for the farm-based enterprise.

The company, based on a family farm near Newtownbutler in county Fermanagh, has just completed an expansion plan which has seen it grow its operation to 60,000 birds in six flocks.

Cavanagh Free Range, owned and run by husband and wife team John and Eileen Hall, is implementing a new marketing strategy to grow existing business, especially, with major retailers and foodservice operations in Britain.

The small company has won acclaim in the UK and Ireland for the quality and outstanding taste of its free range eggs. These include Chefs' Larder Choice in the Blas na hEireann, Irish National Food Awards in 2016 and 2017, as well as UK Great Taste and Irish Quality Food and Drink awards.

Eileen Hall says: "We've now completed our planned expansion of the flocks and are in position to follow up approaches we've had from interested customers especially in Great Britain. We were reluctant to engage with these until we had expanded the flocks.

"We'll now be following up these approaches to turn the inquiries we've had into firm business. We are confident that we have outstandingly tasty free range eggs that customers in Britain will enjoy."

Cavanagh Free Range Eggs was established in March 2012 by the couple. The farm had been producing free range eggs since 2002 before launching the Cavanagh branded eggs a decade later.

Cavanagh branded eggs are also to be found at high-end delis in Northern Ireland, in shops along the border counties between Northern Ireland and the Republic as well as in Scotland

The 60,000 chickens have free run of the farm and are fed a rich diet that's high corn feed and natural feed and that's packed with a range of vitamins and trace elements. The happy hens produce upwards of 20 million eggs a year.
