Northern Irish Tempted Cider wins gold at CiderWorld in Germany

Northern Ireland's Tempted Cider has won a gold medal at the world-renowned CiderWorld Fair in Frankfurt, Germany.

The small batch producer, which is based at Lisburn in county Antrim, won the award for its elderflower cider in the Flavoured Cider category and was praised for its "beautiful aroma".

The international fair - one of the most prestigious in the cider industry - had 95 exhibitors from 16 countries.

Davy Uprichard, who founded Tempted in 2009, says: "Craft cider-making is a promising, passionate industry. To have our elderflower cider recognised by international experts is a huge accolade and helps with our expansion into international markets with our flavoured ciders, which is looking very promising indeed.

"It's vital that we continue to deliver the quality and taste that Tempted Cider drinkers now know and love," he adds.

He established Tempted Cider in a small cidery at the family home with assistance from wife Janet. A horticulturalist, Davy began pressing his own apples.

Tempted Cider has been winning awards from its infancy and is now Ireland's most-awarded cider.
