Top UK meat industry award for Northern Ireland's Dunbia

Dunbia, Northern Ireland's biggest meat processor, has been named Manufacturer of the Year 2018 in the prestigious Meat Management Awards.

The company, which is based in Dungannon, county Tyrone, is one of Northern Ireland's biggest and most successful food businesses.

Jim Dobson, Dunbia chief executive, commenting on the top award in the event, says: "We are absolutely thrilled to have received this award, 'Manufacturer of the Year', at a time of transition within the company.

"As we embark on the next chapter in the life of Dunbia, we look to the future with great excitement, this award, is a true reflection on the quality of our valued staff within the business," he adds.

Dunbia, now part of Dawn Meats, is a major supplier of meat to major supermarkets in Britain and also exports worldwide. The company, in addition, has processing operations in Britain.

The winners of the 2018 Meat Management Industry Awards were announced on at a gala dinner at Hilton Birmingham Metropole, attended by around 400 guests.

The Meat Management Industry Awards are a celebration of the creativity, innovation and excellence of the UK's meat industry.

The awards consist of reader voting and product entries to determine the best in the industry, as chosen by our readers together with a select judging panel for product evaluation.

A total of 21 accolades were handed out to companies, associations, developments and personalities that struck a chord with readers and judges.
