Cloughbane aims to hook more sales with new premium pies

Cloughbane Farm Foods, the award winning Northern Irish piemaker, has launched two new deli pies for their retailers and online sales.

The farm-based company, which gained six gold stars for its beef and two gold stars for their cooked pies in the recent UK Guild of Fine Food's Great Taste Awards, has developed a Fisherman's Pie and a Chicken Curry Pie.

The new pies carry forward the company's success in developing winning pies such as Shepherds and Savoury Mince in the awards.

The premium quality Fisherman's Pie, a new departure for the longstanding meat business, features salmon, smoked haddock and cod with vegetables, handmade white sauce topped with mashed potato. The chicken curry pie has already gained recognition for its great taste having achieved a silver award at the British Pie Awards.

Managing director Lorna Robinson, who leads the business on the family farm based at Pomeroy in County Tyrone, says: "The premium quality of our range of pies is being recognised increasingly and is available to buy in the best leading retailers and independent stores. We use only the best ingredients sourced from our own farm and other local producers. We also develop all our own recipes.

"The two new pies are being introduced following extensive market research and feedback from existing and potential customers. Both pies have been market tested and have been exceptionally well received," she adds.

The company has launched a new e-commerce site selling their 28 day matured premium cuts of beef, direct to their customers throughout NI, ROI and increasingly into the UK. Packed into cool boxes and delivered the next day enables their produce to arrive direct to their customers in peak condition.

Awards won by the ambitious business, also named 'agri-food business of the year', include champion status for its Rib-eye steaks from the prestigious European Angus Cattle Society. Their Rib-eye steaks also gained three gold stars from the panel of expert judges in the UK Great Taste Awards. Other awards were won by the company for its T-bone steak and fillet steak.

The company's focus is on good, honest and wholesome food using only the best ingredients from suppliers they have known for decades and trust.

Cloughbane, established in 2002, supplies a comprehensive range of fresh beef, pork, chicken and lamb cuts, all from their farm kitchens approved to the highest EC hygiene standards.

The beef for the deli range of pies is sourced from the farm's own Angus and

Limousin cattle and from other local farmers who raise their beef to the same standard required for Cloughbane. The beef is hung for at least 28 days to provide a distinctively tender, rich and succulent taste.
