Food experts acclaim Northern Irish "world class produce"

A panel of expert judges including leading chefs has acclaimed Northern Ireland's "world class produce" and listed Belfast as a destination in the Hot List 2015: Food and Drink Destinations.

The panel that included celebrity chefs Mark Hix, Angela Hartnett, Nuno Mendes, Ollie Dabbous and food writer Joe Warwick, writing in BA's influential High Life magazine on he best places for food in 2015 said: "In a short space of time, Belfast's food scene has come a long way.

"The award-winning St George's Market showcases the region's world-class produce. It provides the raw materials for Belfast's increasingly confident restaurant scene.

"The success of newcomers such as Ox, alongside the continuing quality of stalwarts such as Shu and James Street South, has helped cement Belfast's reputation as a quality dining destination."

They listed Belfast along with much bigger centres Tokyo, London, Sydney, Los Angeles and Copenhagen in the article.

High Life is BA's main in-flight magazine and is used on both domestic and international services.
