Elmgrove Foods sees significant rise in turnover

Elmgrove Foods, the Northern Irish specialist in the marketing and development of fifth quarter products for export, has achieved a huge turnover increase.

Based in Dungannon, county Tyrone and part of Dunbia, the leading UK beef processor, Elmgrove Foods reported turnover of £23.6 million for the year ended 31 March 2014 compared to £14.2 million from the same period the year before.

Pre-tax profit slipped from £649,116 to £107,572 during another successful sales year for the award winning business. However, gross profit fell only slightly from £990,498 to £842,081.

The company, which won the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category in 2013, said its aim for the current financial year is to grow through increased volumes and further expansion of its product range.

The continued expansion of its product range was one of the main factors behind the 66 per cent growth in international sales.

Managing director Stuart Dobson says Elmgrove maintained its ability to purchase volumes necessary to meet both customer demand and achieve its growth strategy.

Management's objectives are now to "continue the growth of its core products and seek to develop new markets".

Elmgrove specialises in the production and supply of 5th quarter meat products, which means the offal (entrails and internal organs) of the animal.
