Going wild for wheatgrass at Fortnum and Mason

Squeeze Wheatgrass in Northern Ireland is building on the online success of its Squeeze Wheatgrass with the launch of a new retail brand, Wild Power Wheatgrass.

The award winning company, which is based at Warrenpoint in county Down, have been successfully selling Wheatgrass shots through its e-commerce website for a number of years and are now ready to take on the retail world.

The new brand, Wild Power Wheatgrass, will only be available for purchase through retail outlets. The company has already secured listings for the new brand, due to be launched in mid-January 2017, with prestigious retailer, Fortnum and Mason in Piccadilly, London.

Fortnum and Mason is a huge supporter of Northern Ireland artisan producers. Wild Power Wheatgrass will join some of the best from Northern Ireland on their shelves including Abernethy Butter, Hannan Meats and Passion Preserved.

The Wild Power Wheatgrass shots include pure (30ml wheatgrass shots); fuel (60ml wheatgrass with beetroot and blackcurrant); awaken (60ml wheatgrass with apple and pear) and refresh (60ml wheatgrass with orange and lemon). The shots are 100 per cent natural and are cold-pressed to retain essential nutrients and enzymes.

A number of Northern Ireland retailers keen to be first to get this brand on their shelves, including Slieve Donard Spa, Creightons, Balmoral, Muscle Protein Café, Crumlin, Yahi, Belfast, Harvest Health Store, Newry, have also placed advance orders for the Wild Power Wheatgrass brand.

Award winning company, Squeeze Wheatgrass has an edge on the competition producing wheatgrass shots with added juice with six-week shelf life. It delivers 2,000-3,000 wheatgrass shots across the UK and Europe every week through its e-commerce website.

This business was set up when managing director, Jacquelyn Stewart was diagnosed with skin cancer. Jacquelyn became interested in wheatgrass and its benefits and decided to grow and juice her own wheatgrass as part of her treatment.

Wheatgrass is widely known in Europe and America and a number of health benefits have attributed to regularly drinking the juice as far back as the 1940s, including boosting red blood cell production, stabilizing blood sugars, improving circulation, increasing energy and detoxification.

The grass which is too difficult to ingest directly, is juiced using a special method and contains over 90 minerals, including high concentrations of the most alkaline minerals: potassium, calcium, magnesium and sodium; and 19 amino acids.

The company grows the wheatgrass without soil, feeding the plant directly through the roots so the result is cleaner grass, removing the risk of soil borne bacteria and it actually produces a much sweeter juice as they can cut closer to the root.
