Business recognition for Jawbox Gin in Northern Ireland

Jawbox Single Estate has been shortlisted for a major business award in Northern Ireland.

The gin, the first to be produced in the city for over a century, has been listed for a category sponsored by Belfast International Airport in the annual Aisling awards organised by Belfast Media Group.

Gerry White, founder and managing director of Jawbox Gin, commenting on the shortlisting in the Aisling Awards 2017, says: "I am delighted to have achieved such significant recognition in this prestigious event, from the very city in which Jawbox is based and has drawn great inspiration from its heritage and traditions."

Jawbox is the only food and drink industry product shortlisted in the business category in the annual Aisling Awards. The launch of Jawbox revived the city's tradition in distilling spirits.

Founded in 1997, the Aisling Awards, often known as the 'Belfast Oscars' are a celebration of the talent and vibrancy of Belfast and recognise and award people from all walks of life. The final takes place at a gala event in the city's Europa Hotel.

Jawbox Gin was launched in 2015 by Mr White from his extensive background in the drinks business in Belfast. The gin has since become successful in markets outside Northern Ireland, especially in Great Britain.

The gin has a juniper berry profile featuring botanicals including heather harvested from the mountains surrounding Belfast. It is produced at Echlinville Distillery near Kircubbin in county Down from grain grown on a neighbouring estate.
