Yum Yum Club a rising bakery star
Expert chef and food stylist Karyn Booth, who provided the realistic food props on hit movies and TV series such as Game of Thrones, has set up an artisan enterprise to harness the business potential of the growing interest in home baking.
She formed Yum Yum Club, based in Moira, county Down, to develop a range of home bake cookie products to catch the DIY baking wave. Mrs Booth is a qualified pastry chef with experience working in top hotels, including The Ritz, and high-end restaurants in London.
Yum Yum Club has already launched its first product successfully in Northern Ireland and now sees a substantial opportunity to grow its business substantially through enhanced shelf-life and a different packaging format that's particularly suited for export.
The small business is also offering opportunities for other Northern Ireland companies to provide ingredients and intends to provide the products as a package featuring attractive tea towels from Ulster Weavers, a leading textile business based in Holywood, county Down.
Mrs Booth says: "What we have developed is a premium baking solution product for people of all ages interested in developing their skills, many of who may have been encouraged by programmes such as the Great British Bake-Off.
"We provide premium prepared bakery mixes that can be turned quickly and easily into tasty cookies such as white chocolate and cranberry, chocolate and caramel and chunky chocolate.
"Our entire cookie mixes are handmade in our kitchen in Moira. We are passionate about using only the best locally sourced ingredients which only require the addition of butter and an egg."
In addition to developing food props for the hugely successful Game of Thrones production, Mrs Booth's film portfolio is growing from her engagement with the HBO drama and now includes providing realistic on-screen food for High Rise, Dracula Untold, Your Highness, Shooting for Socrates and The Wiper Times.
