High protein porridge launched by Northern Irish oat miller
White's, Northern Ireland's oat miller, has developed a higher protein porridge that's aimed at consumers throughout the UK, Republic of Ireland and further afield focusing on active and healthier lifestyles.
The new product, ActivOat High Protein Porridge, was developed to provide all the key nutrients from oats with the addition of Soy Protein to deliver a high nutritional boost. The product is available in original and apple and cinnamon flavours. Each 240g pack contains six sachets for convenience.
Danielle McBride, brand manager at White's says: "Protein is essential to the growth and repair of muscle and is a perfect fit when training. White's ActivOat High Protein provides all nine essential amino acids the vital building blocks of muscle growth, and delivers 10.5g of protein in a 40g serving, more than double than in a standard serving of porridge."
Based at Tandragee in county Armagh, White's is a leading supplier of a range of porridge and oat-based snacks to customers throughout the UK, Ireland, other parts of Europe as well as Asia and the Middle East.
The company trialled ActivOat with the Ulster Rugby squad which recently reached the semi final stage of the European Pro 12 League. White's supplied the Ulster Rugby team with porridge as part Ulster Rugby's food first approach to performance nutrition.
"Oats with their inherent health properties provide all the key nutrients- vitamins, minerals, complex carbohydrates and energy to support training and performance on and off the pitch," adds Ms McBride.
Strength and conditioning is a core element of the team's preparation supported by Ulster Rugby's food first performance nutrition programme. Ulster Rugby's head of strength and conditioning, Jonny Davis adds: ''it is essential for Ulster Rugby players to vary their protein sources through their training day and week.
"Targeting foods high in protein, with a low glycaemic index is key to enhancing the individual player's performance which drives team performance on the pitch.''
