RURAL BACON COMPANY FROM FERMANAGH LISTED BY ASDA IN GB
Asda has added a taste of rural Fermanagh to its Ethnic Ireland promotion at around 20 UK stores. The retailer has listed five bacon and ham products from Flynns Fine Foods to its chilled cabinets. The listing is the first for Flynns, which is based at Roslea in rural Fermanagh close to the border between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic, with Asda. Flynns is supplying back rashers, middle rashers, streaky rashers, ham fillet and bacon joints to Asda for the promotion from its extensive range of meat and chicken products. The family-owned and managed business has been supplying pork and other meat products to customers throughout Ireland for over 30 years and has a longstanding reputation as a quality processor of keenly priced products. The company supplies retailers, foodservice and catering businesses in Ireland. Micheal Flynn, managing director of Flynns Fine Foods, says: ???Winning a listing with Asda gives us an important springboard in Great Britain, a market that we've been targeting for some time. What sets us apart is a commitment to excellent products which offer an excellent price point advantage to our customers. In tune with healthy eating lifestyles, our bacon is very lean and low in salt. ???Another important feature of all our products is the strong branding, the result of an extensive investment in developing a presentation that sets our products apart on the shelves. The branding emphasizes the essential characteristic of our products in their strong rural roots in Fermanagh, one of the cleanest and greenest regions in Ireland,??? he adds. Flynns, which is providing bacon in 300g and bacon joints in 1kg packs to Asda for the promotion, is hoping that this will lead to further listings across the retailer's UK network.
