Solid start to year for Northern Ireland's Moy Park

Moy Park, Northern Ireland's biggest company and one of Europe's
leading poultry processors, has reported a "solid start to the year"after operating in a "challenging market".

Based at Craigavon in county Armagh and Northern Ireland's only ?1
billion company, Moy Park reported revenue of ?360 million for the
13 weeks to 27 June 2015. Revenue for the same period last year was ?356 million.

The poultry processor said revenue increase was driven by "good
volume growth" in both the UK and Ireland, and other parts of
Europe.

Janet McCollum, chief executive of Moy Park, said: "The second
quarter of 2015 has seen Moy Park continue its solid start to the
year in what is a challenging market.

"Our commitment to delivering the highest quality product offering
to our customers and consumers, while maintaining our focus on
controlling costs, has enabled us to report solid second quarter
results.

"We are pleased with the on-going progress being made in the business and remain confident in the long term success and development of
the company.

"We continue to invest in our high quality asset base to ensure we
have the capacity in place to facilitate further efficient growth."

Moy Park is Northern Ireland's top manufacturer and, in June, was
the subject of an agreement by its owner, Marfrig, to sell to
another Brazilian company, JBS, which said it sees the Northern
Ireland as a springboard for growth in Europe.

Moy Park said closing of the deal is "expected to occur between the third and fourth quarters of this year". It employs over 3,000
people in Northern Ireland.
