Northern Irish Abernethy Butter for new Fenwick's Food Hall

Abernethy Butter has become the first artisan product from Northern Ireland listed for the new high-end Food Hall at Fenwick's flagship store in Newcastle.

The Northern Ireland family business is supplying its range of threehandcrafted butters - original, smoked and seaweed and sea salt -
to the new food hall, a multi-million refurbishment at the Newcastlestore.

Allison Abernethy, who runs the multi-award winning gourmet butter
business with husband Will on the family farm at Dromara, in rural
county Down, says Fenwick approached the company to become a
supplier.

"We were delighted when such a prestigious and influential retailer as Fenwick's rang us to ask us to supply all three butters in our
range and without us having to provide initial samples. They had
heard about the butters and wanted to include them in the new food
hall. It is very exciting business for us."

Abernethy uses fresh milk from neighbouring dairy farms for hand
churning, hand rolling and hand packing of the butter which includesonly a pinch of salt.

Fenwick's is the first major retailer to list Abernethy Butter
products outside London, where it has been supplying Fortnum and
Mason, the 'Queen's Grocer', for several years, as well as top chefssuch as Heston Blumenthal, Marcus Wareing and Andy McFadden.

The new Fenwick's Food Hall is geared to "culinary connoisseurs' andoffers the finest regional and international food and drink. The
hall features a speciality chocolatier; fish and seafood counter;
meat and game specialists; artisan bakery; boutique coffee roasters and fresh juice bar.

Working alongside Fenwick has been award-winning brand and interior design consultancy CADA Design whose major international clients
include Dean & Deluca, Harrods, Fortnum & Mason and Charbonnel et
Walker.

Rhys McKinnell, head of food and catering at Fenwick Newcastle, says: "Before we embarked on this project we consulted widely with our
customers to discover what they wanted to find in a modern Food Hall. With this exciting development we believe we will deliver what
they expected - a world class dining and retail experience."
