Top award for O'Doherty's Irish Meats in Northern Ireland
O'Doherty's Irish Meats in Northern Ireland has been named in a top UK awards for butchers.
The company, based in Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, has been
awarded the Butcher's Shop of the Year 2015 in Northern Ireland in
the Butcher's Shop of the Year Awards, run annually by the Meat
Trades Journal magazine.
Owned and managed by Pat O'Doherty, who developed the multi-award
winning foods Fermanagh Black Bacon and Fermanagh Corned Beef, is
one of Ireland's best known and most successful family butchers.
The company recently invested in a major expansion of its operationsincluding the launch of a food-to-go Black Bacon sandwich.
Speaking of his success, Pat O'Doherty says the award is a "very
significant endorsement of the company's customer-focused services, innovative products and dedicated staff".
"The awards help to showcase the quality of products and services
provided by independent and especially family butchers across the UK.
Rod Addy, editor of Meat Trades Journal, praised all the butchers
who took part in this year's competition: "It's so inspiring to
witness the wealth of established and emerging talent in the
butchery industry gathered for these awards," he said.
"Congratulations to all the finalists, regional and national award
winners, all of whom are at the top of their game, but only one can claim the overall title of Butcher's Shops of the Year and Simpsons Butchers, a previous regional winner, was a worthy champion."
The Butcher's Shop of the Year Awards are renowned as the premier
event for the UK butchery sector.
They recognise excellence in craft butchery and winners enter an
exclusive group representing the cr?me de la cr?me of British
butchery.
The awards recognise and reward the top butcher's shops across six
regions of the UK.
