FREEZA MEATS REWARDED FOR HOMESTYLE ABERDEEN ANGUS BURGER

Aberdeen Angus burgers earned Northern Ireland based Freeza Meats a major award recently in the prestigious British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF) Annual Awards 2009. The 100% Aberdeen Angus burger was submitted for the awards, the ultimate event in the UK frozen food industry, by Fairway Foodservice, the leading catering business that is a major Freeza Meats' customer. The product is made from Aberdeen Angus beef from certified herds. Newry based Freeza Meats is a specialist in burgers for the catering industry in Britain and Ireland. The judges gave the burger a bronze award in the ???Best New Main Course' catering category, commenting: ???the product is really succulent and juicy with a meaty texture in an individual ???home style' shape. It introduces a new level of taste experience to the Fairway burger range???. Kevin Denyer of Fairway Foodservice said: ???Freeza Meats have done an excellent job in working in partnership with Fairway to develop a fantastic quality product and growing our burger category over the past 4 years???. Fairway also found the new burger an outstanding success at the recent Isle of Wight Festival, Ascot and the Welsh Opera where it was sold for the first time by Fairway member, Charles Saunders. Eamon Mackle, Managing Director at Freeza Meats, commenting on the award, said: ???This superb endorsement is a marvellous boost for everyone at the company. We've clearly succeeded in our objective of creating a home style and richly flavoured burger for Fairway Foodservice, different to anything else on the market. The six ounce Aberdeen Angus burger is the latest in a range of burgers that we've created for our customers in the Foodservice sector. The decision to develop the burger was influenced by the market demand for a quality product that also offered a homemade appearance. The award will be immensely beneficial as we seek to strengthen our market position as a key supplier of burgers???. Based in a predominantly rural community, Freeza Meats sources the beef for its Aberdeen Angus and other burgers from Irish farms that it has dealt with over many years. To add to their success, Freeza Meats has recently been awarded a £1 million supply contract for beef burgers to the Spirit Group, which is part of Punch Taverns with 8200 public houses throughout Britain. In addition to both these prestige customers, Freeza Meats also supply a large number of major food distributors & retailers throughout the UK. Over the past 22 years, BFFF has organised what has become recognized as the ultimate new product awards event, the ???Oscars of the Frozen Food Industry'. The awards recognise the terrific quality and product development in the Frozen Food market during the last year. In 2009, the BFFF Retail Awards were sponsored by the Yearsley Group, a leader in frozen food sales and logistics. The catering products were judged by representatives of the Craft Guild of Chefs who, as executive chefs, catering managers and recipe developers, are expert in their field and uncompromising in their assessments of the entries. The Foodservice market is now worth £2.2 billion annually. For more information on Freeza Meat burgers, contact John Oakley on Tel: 0777 615 3575 or email: john.oakley@pro-marketing.co.uk
