Lisburn cider maker wins business in Britain
Northern Ireland's Tempted Cider Co Ltd has won its first
significant business in Britain for its range of award winning
Tempted? Irish Craft Cider branded products.
The company, based at Lisburn in county Antrim, is now supplying itsaward winning ciders to Wine Rack, which is headquartered in Crewe
and has a network of around 30 stores across Britain. The cider
range comprises Summer Sweet, Dry, Strawberry and a Special Reserve.
It has also just signed a distribution with Dalcassian Wines and
Spirits in Dublin, one of Ireland's leading distributors to hotels, bars, clubs and restaurants, for its product range.
In addition, the family business has won a series of awards
including a gold in the recent Blas na hEireann, Irish National FoodAwards, as well as awards in the Irish Quality Food and Drink
Awards and the UK Great Taste Awards.
The craft business was formed by husband and wife team Davy and
Janet Uprichard in 2009 and has developed into one of the most
successful craft cider producers in Northern Ireland.
Davy Uprichard, commenting on the new business, says: "The contract with Wine Rack is extremely significant because it gives us our
first significant foothold in Britain, a target market for us, with an established network of stores. We are very excited about the
opportunity this provides to showcase our range of award winning
ciders in Britain.
"The distribution with Dalcassian strengthens our market position in the Republic of Ireland.
"Both agreements have been influenced by our success in
internationally recognised awards."
Tempted? ciders are made by fermenting pure apple juice made from
locally grown Armagh Bramley Apple and dessert apples, plus
Tipperary cider apples. Then they are sweetened with more pure
apple juice, so these craft ciders are 100 per cent apple. Tempted? Strawberry cider is a blend of cider, apple juice and strawberry
wine. Apple juice is also produced by the company.
The ciders are available in 500ml bottles, sweet in kegs, and apple juice in 750ml and 250ml bottles.
