New UAE deal from Graham's Bakery in Northern Ireland

Graham's Bakery in Northern Ireland has strengthened its position inthe United Arab Emirates with a deal to supply another Dubai-based
supermarket chain.

The family owned and managed bakery, which is based in Dromore,
county Down, is supplying sponge cakes, including its popular
Victoria Sponge, and pastries to the client, one of the top four
supermarkets in the Emirates. The latest deal in Dubai is for a
trial period. It already supplies Spinneys in Dubai.

Marketing director Tim Graham says: "The new order landed in
January, a time when typically people are on diets and not eating asmuch cake so that's great for us because it creates a nice rhythm
for the business.

"This is also important because food from the UK and Ireland is
growing in popularity in the Emirates and people are prepared to paya bit more because of its quality and taste."

High profile customers in Britain and Ireland now include Tesco,
Dunnes and Budgens.

"We've been focusing on developing our sales outside Northern
Ireland for several years and had been exploring opportunities in a number of markets including the Middle East, US and Canada,"
he adds.

The bakery, a UK Great Taste award winner, is a third generation
family business that started producing a range of freshly baked
breads, cakes and buns in 1956.

"There is great potential to continue our growth through new productlistings, and we're focusing on the customers we've started with in the UAE, GB, Republic of Ireland, the US and our own Northern
Ireland market."

The company now employs 40 people and operates from a modern bakery on the outskirts of Dromore. It has a portfolio of 20 different
products all baked on site without artificial preservatives.
