Gold standard from Northern Irish rapeseed producer

Broighter Gold, the leading Northern Ireland rapeseed oil producer, has launched an innovative product featuring edible gold. The award winning company, based on a family farm near Limavady in county
Derry, has developed Liquid Gold rapeseed oil using 24 carat edible gold for finishing dishes such as fish and salads.

The cold pressed Liquid Gold is available in 50ml bottles (RRP?9)
and is aimed in particular at foodservice operations outside
Northern Ireland.

Leona Kane, managing director of Broighter Gold Rapeseed Oil,
commenting on the new oil, says: "The edible gold is a great way to gild or finish a dish. It adds a bit of luxury.

"I've been thinking about the new product for some time and had
talked to a number of chefs cooking with my rapeseed oil. Feedback
from the chefs was extremely encouraging.

"The comments led me to push ahead with the development of the new
Broighter Gold. The new oil is a further extension of the company's heritage from the discovery of the historic Broighter Gold horde
that was found on our farm. In 1896." The horde features gold
artefacts from the Iron Age.

Broighter Gold Rapeseed Oil was established in 2009 when Leona
formed the business with her husband Richard, a sixth generation
farmer on 1,000 acres used to grow wheat, barley, potatoes and
oilseed rape.

The rapeseed oil is a natural product that is produced without any
heat treatments, solvents or anti-frothing agents that may be used
in the processing of refined oils.

As well as the original rapeseed oil the company produces a range ofinfused oils such as lemon, chilli, black truffle and porcini.

The company to date has won a series of accolades including UK GreatTaste Awards and National Irish Food Awards for its cold pressed
oils, and won the UK Flavour of the Neighbourhood Award.

The oils are supplied to top chefs and food halls in Northern
Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and France.
