Northern Ireland successes in Red Ribbon Awards
Northern Ireland's Abernethy Butter is shortlisted in the final of
the Red Ribbon Award for outstanding family businesses in the UK.
The company now goes through to the final stage in the premiere
Best of Business Award in July.
Based in Dromore, county Down, Abernethy Butter specialises in
handmade and hand rolled butter produced in three varieties -
original creamy butter, smoked butter and butter with dulse seaweed.
The Red Ribbon Award is organised by the Family Business Place (FBP)organisation to showcase excellence in the family business sector.
Abernethy Butter is a family business formed and run by husband and wife team Will and Allison Abernethy. The company is also
shortlisted in the Best Small Business category along with Just Livea Little, a breakfast granola producer from Portaferry in county
Down run by David and Jill Crawford, another husband and wife team.
Northern Ireland companies listed in other categories for the final stages are:
Innovation Award - Walled City Brewery in Derry, county Londonderry,a craft brewery formed by James Huey.
New Frontier Award - Graham's Bakery, Dromore, county Down and
Avondale Foods, Lurgan, county Armagh. Both are family businesses.
Graham's is owned and run by the Graham family. Avondale is a Geddisfamily enterprise.
One to Watch - William Corrie of Corrie's Farmshops, Newtownards,
county Down.
FBP says: "These exceptional family-owned businesses were
shortlisted by the panel to represent the very finest in British
commerce and entrepreneurship. They encapsulate all of the reasons
family-owned businesses have become the engine room of the UK
economy."
The regional finalists now have the honour of representing Northern Ireland at the Red Ribbon Awards National Ceremony on 15 July 2016 at London's iconic Wembley Stadium.
