Morrisons orders Free From products from Free'ist
Free'ist, the specialist in sugar free and gluten free products, haswon its first business from a major supermarket chain in Great
Britain.
Morrisons has placed an order with Free'ist for chocolates, popcorn and marshmallows from its scrumptious range that doesn't compromise on taste.
Current Free From and health trends in the market, along with the
range offering from Free'ist, has resulted in extensive discussions between the Belfast based company and the UK retailer, therefore
providing the new listings.
Morrisons is a leading retailer, based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, which serves customers across Britain from more than 500 stores and an online home delivery service. Every week, 11 million customers
shop at Morrisons stores.
Timing is extremely important for Free'ist at the moment. There is
now a huge demand for sugar free products in the market after such
strong media coverage on the negative effects of sugar, which still continues.
From Jamie Oliver came the programme 'Jamie's Sugar Rush' and the
creation of the UK Government & Parliament Petition for the
introduction of a sugar tax, which received over 100,000 signatures within a matter of days. There has even been the creation, from
Change4Life, of the 'Sugar Smart' app for consumers to monitor theirsugar intake.
Also, NHS England's Chief Executive Simon Stevens has recently claimed that pricing promotions and checkout displays of foods high in
sugar will soon be ending. With all the coverage over the last year,Free'ist has received hundreds of enquiries from consumers in Great Britain who want to be able to buy Free'ist and now they are able topurchase it at their local Morrisons.
Gerard McAdorey, Free'ist founder and managing director, commenting on the recent listing with Morrisons, says: "This is a hugely important contract for us in Great Britain, a very important market. It follows extensive negotiations and product sampling over many months.
"The contract gives a very strong platform for further growth with aretailer committed to the expansion of its Free From offering in
line with a rapidly developing market trend towards quality, sugar
free products that are also very tasty.
"Morrisons loves the fact that Free'ist has such a diverse sugar
free product range as it crosses many categories and also the fact
that some of the products are additionally gluten free. They like
our ability to back up the Free'ist range with professional
marketing, strong promotions and efficient logistics. We have a
saying at Free'ist - innovate or evaporate. NPD is at the heart of
what we do and we know what Free'ist fans are looking for so we are always looking to add scrumptious sugar free products to our range."
Free'ist products have been created and developed over the past three years. They are the outcome of extensive market research on 'Free From' products and business opportunities and discussions with majorretailers such as Morrisons, as well as ongoing discussions with the other UK retailers.
Free'ist also supplies its products to Holland and Barrett (the leading UK health food chain), Tesco Northern Ireland, Tesco Republic ofIreland, Spar, Dunnes Stores, Musgrave Group and, recently,
Applegreen forecourt stores.
Northern Ireland Food and Drink companies are also celebrating the
regions pure, natural, quality food and drink in 2016, with a seriesof local, national, and international promotional events.
