Northern Ireland's Shortcross is Gin of the Month
Shortcross Gin, the Northern Irish boutique distillery gin, has been named 'Gin of the Month' by the prestigious Craft Gin Club.
The gin, produced by Rademon Estate Craft Distillery at Crossgar in County Down, has also teamed up with Suki Tea, Northern Ireland's award winning boutique tea blender in Belfast, in an innovative cocktail -'Afternoon at Rademon'.
The cocktail, which has been created by leading mixologist David Hagan at Bert's Bar in the five-star Merchant Hotel in Belfast, is blended from Shortcross Gin and Suki Tea's recently launched Goji Berry and Pomegranate fruit infusion with star anise and lemon slices.
The cocktail recipe is being circulated to over 2,000 Craft Gin Club members in along with Shortcross Gin and the Suki Tea infusion. Suki Tea is an award winning tea blender.
Shortcross Head Distiller David Boyd-Armstrong says: "We are delighted to have been chosen as Gin of the Month by such an influential organisation. It's a marvellous boost for us and a terrific endorsement of our gin. We partnered with Suki Tea to offer members a taste of Northern Ireland!
"To mark the occasion, we've also created an exclusive Wild Clover cocktail for members to enjoy."
The four clover reflects the botanicals that flavour Shortcross. The first leaf symbolises faith. "When working with distillers to create a bespoke gin, we must have complete faith in their distilling prowess and we're very happy to say that our faith in the Shortcross team was spot on," the Craft Gin Club says.
"The second leaf denotes hope, an emotion that washes over us each time we send Gin of the Month parcels, the hope that members will truly enjoy your new craft gin and complementary items.
"The third leaf stands for love. And love is what club members are drinking this month, the love that Fiona and David Boyd-Armstrong have put into creating their acclaimed gins.
"The fourth is for luck. Perhaps more than anything, we're lucky to have such wonderful club members and to be able to share with them the amazing gins of our distiller partners. We're proud to offer this special expression of Shortcross Gin this March, a Wild Clover gin that undoubtedly carries a number of four-leaf clovers."
Shortcross Wild Clover is a one-off batch created exclusively for Craft Gin Club members. The cocktail includes juniper, coriander, orange peel, lemon peel, elderberries, elderflower, apples, cinnamon, cassia, wild lover (plus a few secrets). It's described as a classical gin style with a unique twist, best described as floral meadow, wild berries and grassy notes. It is a smooth gin with an exceptionally long finish. This special batch emphasises the wild clover element, while perfectly retaining the balance of this very special gin."
