Northern Irish link in top London restuarant award winner
HIX Mayfair, the gourmet restaurant at Brown's Hotel in London
specialising in beef and gammon from Hannan Meats in Northern
Ireland, has been voted the city's No 1 Hotel Restaurant.
Menus at HIX Mayfair, part of a group of high-end restaurants owned by top chef Mark Hix, feature fillet steak and roast beef from
Glenarm Estate in county Antrim as well as gammon all supplied by
Hannan Meats, which is based at Moira, a village in county Down.
Featured on the HIX Mayfair a la carte menu is Glenarm Estate filletsteak, while the Sunday menu includes three Northern Irish products - roast sirloin of Glenarm Estate beef with Yorkshire pudding,
'Peter Hannan's gammon steak' and sugar-pit beef hash.
The fillet steak and roast sirloin are dry-aged in the world's
biggest Himalayan salt chamber, while the sugar-pit beef features
another unique technique pioneered by Hannan Meats.
The restaurant, one of seven developed by celebrity chef Mark Hix,
received the prestigious accolade from London Weekly News in a
public competition.
HIX Mayfair in London's Albemarle Street, where Mark Hix is Directorof Food and Lee Keeble is executive chef, beat nine of the capital'sother finest restaurants nominated for the award.
The awards were hosted at the Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square.
The black-tie event acknowledged and celebrated the accomplishments,determination and hard work of various professionals, establishmentsand businesses from the London food sector.

The ceremony brought together suppliers, servers and specialists,
recognising their hard work and commitment in providing their
customers with the best products and service.
In addition to being a celebrated chef and restaurateur, Mark Hix isa successful author and columnist in major newspapers and magazines.He first introduced Hannan's Himalayan steak from Glenarm Estate in London and has continued to build menus around the meat.
After 17 years as chef director at Caprice Holdings, he opened his
first restaurant in 2008 - the acclaimed HIX Oyster & Chop House in Smithfield. Following the success of Chop House he opened HIX
Mayfair, HIX Soho, HIX City and his chicken and Glenarm Estate steakconcept restaurants, Tramshed in Shoreditch, and Hixter Bankside. In2015 he opened his first stand-alone bar in The Old Vic theatre, offering a late-night venue in Waterloo.
Mark and long-time friend Damien Hirst announced their collaborationon Pharmacy 2 restaurant, their two greatest passions, art and food.The restaurant in Vauxhall opened its doors in February.
Outside of London in Mark's native Dorset is HIX Oyster & Fish Houseand HIX Townhouse, a boutique hotel, both in Lyme Regis.
