Artisan Foods Mean Business at Belfast International Airport
Artisan foods have been added to the menu for business and other premium travellers at Belfast International Airport, the region's biggest transport hub.
The airport, which handles around four million passengers annually, recently promoted local artisans by setting up a dedicated Taste of Ulster shop in the Departures concourse, has now carried this commitment into its recently refurbished Causeway Lounge for business and other premium travellers.
The new lounge features a "gourmet artisan buffet' on local products including Fivemiletown Creamery's speciality cheeses from County Tyrone, White's porridge oats from County Armagh, Ditty's breads and biscuits from County Derry, Thompson's Family Tea, the Belfast-based company which is Northern Ireland's leader in teas and fruit infusions, and Johnson's Coffee from Lisburn. Breads and morning goods are also locally sourced as are the butter and jams.
The focus on artisan foods is a further example of the airport's support for the current Year of Food and Drink campaign.
The Causeway Lounge reflects the shape of Northern Ireland's iconic north coast landmark and is a world-class facility
Graham Keddie, chief executive of Belfast International Airport, says: "We are delighted to re-open our business lounge, which we are proud to say is better than ever."
Greeted by a dedicated welcome team, guests can take a seat and spend their pre-boarding time in a way that suits them best. Whether it's to send that final email before take-off, or to relax and enjoy the panoramic views of the runway before you leave on holiday, The Causeway Lounge provides the perfect environment for starting a journey, your way.
"We are delighted to continue our support for Year of Food and Drink by offering a gourmet buffet boasting a wide range of treats and bites for guests to enjoy. The International Airport provides the perfect platform for our incredible food producers to showcase their products to both a domestic and international audience. This support is hugely important in order to continue growing Northern Ireland's food offering - particularly during NI's Year of Food," he adds.
Northern Ireland Food and Drink companies are celebrating the regions pure, natural, quality food and drink in 2016, with a series of local, national, and international promotional events
