Tesco listing for Cloughbane's new meals

Cloughbane Farm Foods, Northern Ireland's award winning pie maker and convenience meals producer, has added a further three new ready meals to its range of homemade foods and secured a listing from Tesco.

The new meals have already been listed by Tesco and the Musgrave Group. Based on a family farm at Pomeroy in county Tyrone, Cloughbane has just introduced Steak and Mash in 450g packs retailing at £2.99, Steak Stroganoff and Rice in 400g packs at RRP £3.99 and Sweet and Sour Chicken also in 400g packs at £2.99.

The company specialises in products using locally sourced ingredients from the family farm and other local suppliers. The new products follow the launch in June of three convenience meals.

Managing director Lorna Robinson, commenting on the three new additions to its extensive range, says: "These products are made just how they would make them at home, using the finest quality local ingredients. The Steak and Mash and Steak Stroganoff are produced by our very own team of experienced butchers in our farm shop, which is also on the same site as our extensive kitchen and product development facility.

"The new products have been created to fill a gap in the market for high quality and convenient ready meals. They add to the current products we currently offer.

"Feedback on the recently launched meals has been extremely positive and have been priced to ensure success. The new ready meals are already listed by Musgrave Group, various independent stores and have been available in Tesco from the end of June.

"We are also in positive talks with our other retailers about listing the new products."

Cloughbane has won a series of gold Great Taste Awards for its range of ready meals. The company, based on a 180-acre cattle and sheep farm in county Tyrone, has been owned and run by the Robinson family since 1906.

Other important customers for Cloughbane's range include Tesco, Asda, Musgrave Retail Partners and Henderson/Spar. In addition to its broad portfolio of ready meals and deli pies, Cloughbane supplies a comprehensive range of fresh beef, pork, chicken and lamb cuts, all from a modern processing plant approved to the highest EC hygiene standards, ensuring provenance and total traceability.

Mrs Robinson continues: "Wholesomeness is important to us. Our focus, therefore, is on good, honest and wholesome food using only the best ingredients from suppliers we have known for decades and trust.

"All our products are handcrafted from ingredients, including vegetables, which are freshly sourced from our farm and other local suppliers. The beef, for example, that we use in our deli range of pies is sourced from our own Angus and Limousin cattle and hung for at least 28 days to provide a distinctively tender, rich and succulent taste."
