Tasty and healthy snacks from Northern Ireland at Lunch!

Northern Ireland companies are showing a range of new and established food to go solutions at Lunch 2016 in the Business Design Centre, London, 21 - 22 September. They are exhibiting on the Northern Ireland stand (M302).

Among the new products being launched by the five companies in the Northern Ireland showcase is Snackettes, a brand of healthy snacks from Linwoods, a global leader in seeds and nuts.

The new fibre-rich snacks are in handy 30g packs and come in Banana and Coconut, Spicy Tomato and Superseeds flavours. The Snackettes range is being launched in Great Britain by Linwoods at Lunch.

Linwoods has a successful track record in the development of healthy supplements such as milled organic flaxseeds, hemp and goji berries.

Kestrel Foods, another award winner in healthy snacks, is showing its extensive portfolio of Acti-Snacks, a delicious range of natural dried fruit, nut and seed snacks which maximise on the intrinsic values of each ingredient to meet individual sporting nutrition objectives - carbohydrates for fuel, a combination of proteins, healthy fats and carbohydrates for endurance or protein for recovery - perfect for those who lead an active lifestyle.

Avondale Foods, among Northern Ireland's biggest and most innovative food processors, has a range of products that meet the demand for healthy side salads offering different flavours such as Chunky Bean in Minted Dressing and Carrot Superfood Salad as well vegetable accompaniments including Cauliflower Cheese and Chilli Wedges with Sour Cream Dip and soups perfect for the convenience and 'food to go' markets.

Avondale Foods, in addition, offers Brand Me, a marketing concept that involves the company developing, manufacturing and supplying specific food to go foods under a customer's brand.

Another healthier snack category is Free'ist, now one of Northern Ireland's producers of foods such as popcorn, cookies, jams and chocolates that are 'free from' added sugar and many also free from gluten.

Free'ist will have a wide range of products on show that have won national awards for innovation and outstanding taste.

Offering different products for the continuing to grow bottled water market is Antrim Hills Spring Water, a supplier of a broad range of Water Within branded products from its own artesian well deep in volcanic basalt rocks of county Antrim.

The Water Within range includes a 100 per cent artesian spring water along with flavoured waters such as Lemon and Lime, Passion Fruit and Mango and Cranberry, Lemon and Raspberry. The water is low in sodium and potassium but rich in minerals.
Displaying a wide range of frozen meat products including burgers, poultry and lamb is Gourmet Island, an established producer of innovative products with heritage and provenance.

The presentation has been organised by Invest Northern Ireland, the region's business development agency. Invest NI's Michelle Charrington, commenting on the presentation, says: "The showcase demonstrates that Northern Ireland companies offer a comprehensive range of quality and original products for the dynamic food to go market.
"Our companies are focused on this market and especially on healthier options that don't compromise on taste.

"We now have a vibrant 'food to go' sector in which companies are successfully responding to health issues with innovative and tasty solutions for foodservice. Visitors to the Northern Ireland showcase will be sample deliciously different flavours that customers will enjoy, appreciate and, of course, return for more."
