Northern Irish butcher shortlisted for top innovation award

Family-owned K&G McAtamney Butchery and Deli in Northern Ireland has been shortlisted for the final stages of the prestigious Butcher's Shop of the Year Awards in the Innovation category.

The company, which is headquartered at Ballymena in county Antrim, has a successful track record of the development of added-value products and outstanding services to customers. The annual competition is organised by the industry's Meat Trades Journal (MTJ).

An MTJ spokesman, commenting on the awards, says: "The level of entrants to the Butcher's Shop of the Year Awards for this year was extremely high which made judging extra challenging. It's encouraging to see so many impressive butchery businesses in the country representing the industry."

K&G McAtamney Butchery and Deli operates a stylish and contemporary butchers and deli that offers everything for a homemade gourmet meal, a light lunch or tasty breakfast.

Freshly prepared by qualified chefs and butchers using locally sourced produce, the entire range of fresh meats, fish, salads, sandwiches, ready meals and desserts are prepared and served by an enthusiastic and customer-focused team.

The family business was named Northern Ireland Butcher's Shop of the Year in 2012. It has also won UK Great Taste Awards for its products.

McAtamney Butchers Deli is also shortlisted for the Northern Ireland Butcher's of the Year category along with Fletcher Meats, near Belfast and McKay Family Butchers, Ballycastle, county Antrim.

The awards will be held at the iconic Banking Hall, London on Monday 7th November 2016.
