CELEBRITY CHEF PIES FOR SAINSBURY SCOTLAND

Sainsbury Scotland has listed a range of luxury pies developed by TV celebrity chef Paul Rankin for Millar Savoury Foods in Northern Ireland. The range, already successful not only in Sainsbury, Tesco Asda and Musgrave Retail Partner stores across Northern Ireland but also Dunnes Stores in the Republic of Ireland, are based on original recipes developed by Rankin, the Belfast-based chef, for Millar Savoury, a company with an extensive portfolio of quality meat products. The initial range comprises five single serve pies created using traditional artisan techniques. The range includes: Irish Steak and Roasted Root Vegetables; Chunky Chicken and Leek; Peppered Venison and Mushroom; Irish Steak and Kidney; and Irish Potato, Leek and Goats' Cheese. The pies are produced by Millar Savoury without any artificial colourings, flavourings, preservatives, MSG and hydrogenated fats. All ingredients are fully traceable and have been sourced from longstanding local suppliers in Ireland. Commenting on the new range, Clarke Millar, Commercial Director at Millar Savoury, says: ???The pies are the outcome of extensive market research in the United Kingdom and Ireland. ???We asked consumers about the type of pies they would be interested in purchasing. In addition, we took advice from buyers at major retailers. The next step was to ask Paul Rankin to look at the data and to come up with new recipes for the type of pies the consumers said they would buy. ???He created totally new recipes for traditional pies, for example, using different ingredients. The result is a range of luxury and tasty pies that have been launched under his own and very successful Rankin Selection brand. We've been immensely encouraged by the support we've received from virtually all the leading supermarkets throughout the UK and Ireland.??? Millar Savoury Foods, based at Eglinton, near Londonderry, is a family business that has been supplying convenience and snack foods to retailers throughout the British Isles since 1969.
