It's a tasty Christmas in a Jar from Northern Ireland
Made with Love in Northern Ireland has created "Christmas in a Jar', a highly innovative chutney that's ideal for the festive dinner table.
The artisan business, based in Bangor, county Down, has developed a rich and flavour filled blend of seasonal favourites including apples, dates, oranges, sultanas, ginger, juniper berries, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves in a 220g jar (RRP £3.50).
The new and unique handmade product has recently won recognition for outstanding taste and quality in the recent Blas na hEireann, Irish National Food Awards.
Margaret Cooper, the owner and founder of Made with Love, says: "I wanted to create a chutney that would feature the many traditional flavours associated with the festive season. I test marketed it at the recent Irish National Food Awards and was immensely encouraged by the feedback from the judges. It's ideal for a range of seasonal dishes including snacks."
She makes the product herself and is now supplying it to delis and foodservice operations in Northern Ireland. In addition to the new Christmas in a Jar, she's an extensive range of unusual flavours of chutneys, relishes and jams.
She crafts the product from fruit and other ingredients, mostly locally sourced, cut by hand.
Mrs Coulter set up her small artisan business in 2012 and settled on the 'Made with Love' brand to reflect her own commitment to quality and richly flavoured jams and chutneys.
"I've always loved cooking and entertaining," she adds. "I enjoy making the products and take great care to ensure the very best ingredients. It's a genuine labour of love," she says. "I know it's an intensely competitive part of the business but I believe that my products have what it takes for success. It's because products like Christmas in a Jar really are different.
"What I am doing is to develop a unique product range that now stretches to around 30 including chilli jam, which is proving very popular with shoppers, along with a plum and vanilla jam."
