The Irish FreeFrom Food Awards 2017 are Open

Entries are now open for the Irish FreeFrom Food Awards 2017.

The FreeFrom Food Awards Ireland are organised and administered by a highly dedicated team of food lovers, who have an in-depth and specialist knowledge of the FreeFrom Food marketplace. Our goal is to recognise, encourage and reward the achievements of producers and the excellence of their products.

The FreeFrom Food Awards Ireland were founded by John Burke - a lifelong Coeliac and longtime judge of the FreeFrom Food Awards in the UK.

Judging begins with an assessment period during which entries are assessed to ensure that they meet the relevant criteria and rules of entry.

Final Judging begins on the 20th March and lasts for a period of 2 weeks. Final Judging is completed by panels of judges that comprise of industry specialists, food writers, food bloggers and consumers of FreeFrom products.

Judges will make their evaluation based on quality, flavour, aroma, texture, ingredients, price and importantly - FreeFrom declarations.

Final judging will be 'blind', i.e. judges will NOT be informed of the name of the manufacturer/producer of any product until an initial decision is made regarding the winners of the category. Judges will be supplied with information regarding each product and this will include ingredients list, FreeFrom list, preparation instructions etc.

Following the initial decision the packaging will be revealed to the judging panel. The packaging will be re-examined to ensure the product meets the various criteria (FreeFrom declarations), following which the winning products will be awarded a Gold, Silver, Bronze Award or Merit status. Gold Award winners will be automatically entered and assessed for the Product of the Year Award.
