New ideas from Northern Ireland on Stand G11
Seven Northern Ireland companies are showing products at CATEX 2017, Ireland's biggest foodservice show, at the RDS in Dublin from 21-23 February. On show are products ranging from poultry products and bakery to coconut drinks, potato snacks and rapeseed oil.
The showcase (Stand G11) has been organised by Invest Northern Ireland, the region's business development body and features a broad cross-section of products, many of which are already featured by foodservice operators, including suppliers to hotels, cafes and restaurants, in the Republic of Ireland and further afield.
They represent Northern Ireland's most successful manufacturing industry, which generates around £5 billion to the local economy and employs upwards of 100,000 people across an extensive supply chain.
Drew McIvor, Invest NI's Head of Business Development RoI & GB Foodservice, commenting on the showcase, says: "CATEX has long been a vitally important event for our successful food and drink. It's our biggest export market, contributing around 20 per cent of sales outside Northern Ireland.
"Our companies have an impressive track record in creating high quality and innovative products for foodservice businesses in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
"Our showcase at CATEX provides an opportunity for existing and potential clients in the Republic seeking experienced and reliable suppliers to talk to our producers and sample the products they have to offer and discuss how they can meet their requirements for great food with provenance as well as a track record of providing value for money and service they can count upon. It's an exhibition which usually leads good business contacts for our companies to follow up," he adds.
The Northern Ireland showcase includes products which have won UK Great Taste, Blas na hEireann and Irish Quality Food and Drink awards over recent years.
