Forest Feast targets growth in on-the-go healthy snacks
Forest Feast, UK dried fruit and nut brand from Kestrel Foods, is targeting faster growth from the growing market trend for protein rich foods by repositioning its on-the-go snack range.
The company, which is based at Craigavon in county Armagh, has redesigned its packets to highlight nuts as a source of protein as a result of a heightened awareness about its health benefits.
Forest Feast's 'source of protein' range features snacking favourites including natural cashews, almonds and sunflower seeds, roasted and salted pistachios, and honey roast peanuts and cashews.
Product development manager Ann Woods said: "Research has shown that protein is widely appreciated in a healthy eating context, steadily moving from its roots as a food group for the dedicated fitness enthusiasts to its current position of mainstream consumer appeal.
"We know that 30 per cent of consumers look for protein rich foods when they are looking for healthier choices. However, making educated decisions about what you eat requires consumers having the knowledge to make informed choices. With the 'source of protein' range, we have taken the step to give consumers a clear and accurate on-pack depiction of the protein contents of our popular on-the-go snacks."
The company, headed by husband and wife team Michael and Lorraine Hall, the founders of the business, has a longstanding track record of innovation in healthy snacks.
