
Top award for Northern Irish producer of culinary oils
Harnett's Oils, a producer of a range of cold pressed culinary oils, has been named 'Best Northern Ireland Food Producer' in a major awards.
The company, which is based on a family farm at Waringstown in county Down, came out on top in the Food and Drink Awards Northern Ireland 2017.
Harnett's has pioneered the development of culinary products such as rapeseed, linseed and sunflower and hemp oil and Duvillaun Irish Atlantic Sea Salt.
Founded by managing director Jane Harnett, the small company has won UK Great Taste and Irish National Food awards for its culinary products which also include infused oils and marinades which are sold throughout Ireland and in parts of Great Britain.
Jane Harnett, commenting on the award, said: "We are delighted to have gained this recognition in Northern Ireland for the quality and innovation underpinning our oils. It will be immensely helpful as we seek to expand our sales."
Two hundred guests attended the celebration of the achievements of the Northern Irish food industry.
The Food Awards Northern Ireland recognised the success of local professionals and establishments.
Irfan Younis, chief executive of organisers Creative Oceanic, added: "We are honoured and delighted to have such great finalists and winners representing the Northern Irish food industry and enhancing its reputation nationally and internationally.
