New sausages with a 'kick' from Northern Ireland butcher

Multi-award winning butcher McCartney's in Northern Ireland has introduced two new sausage flavours to its extensive portfolio. The new sausages are Cider and Pork and Pork with Gin and Tonic.

The butchery and deli business, owned by George McCartney and based in Moira, county Antrim, has been producing sausages for almost 50 years. The new pork sausages reflect the current popularity of cider and gin flavours.

The company has also collected a host of national awards for its sausages including the UK Champion of Champions competition in London a record three times. It has more than 40 different flavours of sausages.

The business also gained the supreme champion in the UK Great Taste Awards in 2011 for premium silverside corned beef.

"Our award winning sausages have been made to the same McCartney recipe for generations. We use only the best ingredients with natural casings," the company says.

The company sources its meat from farm quality assured farmers in Northern Ireland.

McCartney's has been in business for over 140 years and is currently run by the two daughters of George McCartney, a well-respected figure in the UK meat industry.

In addition to selling a broad range of meats, other meat products and, of course, sausages, McCartney's supplies top restaurants and hotels. It has won the top UK award for butchery businesses. It has also supplies top retailers in London including Selfridges and Fortnum and Mason.

The business in Moira now features an extensive deli and a popular bistro.
